"Darren Walker, president of the @fordfoundation, in his office at the organization's headquarters on East 43rd Street in Manhattan. When designing the suite in the 1960s, the architects Kevin Roche and John Dinkeloo made it clear you were about to see a Very Important Person. Times have changed, though, and the president's suite will be among the things sacrificed in a $190 million renovation that will likely take 2 years. While the building needs some updates, the essential design — including an exterior and atrium that have been official New York City landmarks since 1997 — won't change. Among other things, the new space will include an art gallery and 2 floors to be rented to nonprofit organizations. @samuelhodgson photographed the @fordfoundation building. #architecture" By nytimes on Instagram.
