"It all started around 2 a.m. this morning, when the @uscg Sector Long Island Sound Command Center received an urgent distress call: The 7 fishermen on board the 76-foot scallop fishing vessel Carolina Queen III reported that their ship was taking on water. The @uscg dispatched a 25-foot vessel to rescue the fishermen, but the @uscg crew nearly found themselves in need of rescue when their boat capsized in the rough waters near East Rockaway Inlet. All 5 members of the @uscg crew swam safely to shore, and a helicopter airlifted the fishermen to safety. The photographer Uli Seit took this photo of the Carolina Queen III straddling land and sea off Rockaway Beach in Queens." By nytimes on Instagram.
